Tofino

The sea crashes upon wide, sandy beaches whilst seagulls chatter over a misty morning. The unmistakable fresh scent of the ocean will wake you up like nothing else on earth, driving a sense of adventure. Of course, parts of the island are reserved for slower pleasures like wineries, antique shopping and organic farms, but sunburnt afternoons are best spent with a slightly quicker pulse. A sailboat or snorkel can be handy around much of the island, but the real must-have piece of gear on the far west coast of Tofino is a surfboard. And a wetsuit. It IS Canada.
